There was no rest onsite over the holiday period. Alright maybe a little. Don't be fooled though there has been plenty of progress. In December we began the excavation of approx. 30,000 tonnes or 17,000m3 of soil from the basement. We're now one third of the way down!
The Basement CSM retaining wall was completed when the Perimeter Capping Beam was set and finished. The temporary anchors that help hold the wall in place have been drilled and placed, ready for completion this week. Also, this week we'll see the dewatering spear system installed and commissioned, essential for keeping water from within the pit. Relocation of the sewer, gas and water services is underway and the final site amenities are in place. Down we go!
