SKY Residences structural build begins

We've reached the bottom, now we're heading for the SKY.

What a month February has been! We are nearing the completion of the excavation of 30,000 tonne of sand. The bulk excavation within the tower envelope is complete and we are now at the bottom of basement level two, 7 metres below ground level.

Already the structural building has begun. Together with our integrated company Hunter Readymixed ConcreteGWH has completed the first major pour of the development, the lift pit for the main tower. This forms part of the structural core of the building. The end of February will also see another tower crane enter the Newcastle skyline with the installation of our SKY tower crane this weekend.

March will be another big month as the GWH team prepare the basement for the 1 metre thick raft slab. The 600 tonne of steel reinforcement and 2,000 cubic metres of high strength concrete will form the base for the 22 storeys above.

WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING ONSITE;

  • Excavation of the tower envelope complete
  • Site sheds installed
  • Tower crane footing formed, poured and installed
  • Screw piles installed
  • Main Tower lift pit, dug, formed and poured
