ERA by GWH: Newcastle's Next Chapter

Newcastle is set for a transformation as we unveil our latest project, ERA, an urban village where coastal breezes meet city buzz. This ambitious development marks a new chapter for the region, bringing together GWH’s almost 30 years of expertise in construction and community-focused projects.

Located at 124-126 Bull Street, Newcastle West, ERA is a vision come to life after years of planning, with the initial design inspired by Newcastle's rich architectural heritage and future possibilities. Designed by internationally acclaimed architects FK Australia, the two towers of ERA will rise 14 and 15 floors, comprising 281 one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Residents will enjoy beautifully designed living spaces, private terraces, and over 2,000 square meters of resort-style amenities.

FK Australia partner Rob Mirams highlights that ERA’s design is rooted in Newcastle’s eclectic past. Drawing inspiration for the buildings design from the historic sandstone buildings found throughout the city as well as modern glass curtain walls and louvred facades which are becoming more prevalent, the buildings concrete and masonry finishes will anchor the building at ground level. Whilst the expansive glazing and gentle curves are punctuated by louvred systems designed to shade facades and the apartments within.

“There’s so much history in Newcastle, compelling us to design something that will stand the test of time and leave a legacy for its residents. ERA has been designed as a contemporary landmark that fuses Newcastle’s eclectic architectural past with its vibrant future.”

Each apartment layout is thoughtfully curated, featuring open-plan living areas, SMEG appliances in well equipped kitchens with island benches, and private zones for bedrooms. The full-height glass doors lead to private terraces, maximising natural light and offering sweeping views.

ERA offers over 2,000 square meters of exclusive residential amenities designed to support wellness and community. The towers each have their own gym, a dry sauna, and a spectacular rooftop sky garden with BBQ facilities and private bookable areas. From these spaces, residents will enjoy panoramic views of the ocean, harbor, city skyline, and Stockton Dunes.

This commitment to quality and wellness is part of GWH’s dedication to understanding local residents’ desires.

“Quality, wellness, security, convenience – We’ve learned how people want to enjoy their personal and shared spaces while maximising the outlook across the city and coastline,”

Jonathan Craig - Managing Director, GWH

Steady growth has defined the area’s market over the past decade, and GWH’s ongoing success with local projects underscores the demand for quality housing. With nearly 80% of GWH purchasers being local owner-occupiers, ERA is tailored to those who value Newcastle's lifestyle and community.

“Newcastle isn’t a boom or bust town.”

Peter Kunov - Licensee, GWH Real Estate

Onsite preparation, including mine grouting, is already underway. Demolition and early works are set to begin in January 2025, with project completion slated for Spring 2027.

For those interested in becoming part of this landmark project, ERA offers a unique opportunity to live in a vibrant urban village that combines modern luxury with Newcastle’s cherished coastal and city culture.
