Macquarie Tower is a landmark mixed-use development by GWH, setting a new benchmark for integrated urban development in Charlestown. Delivered entirely by GWH as both developer and builder, Macquarie Tower demonstrates the strength of an integrated approach to complex, high density construction. The project involved the deepest basement ever constructed in Lake Macquarie, a post tensioned and precast structural system, and the coordination of multiple strata and uses within a single building.

Construction was supported by digital site governance systems and construction technologies that improved safety, quality control and build efficiency, while careful planning and collaboration enabled delivery on a tightly constrained site surrounded by neighbouring buildings. Despite challenges including prolonged wet weather, regulatory change and complex in ground conditions, the project was delivered through disciplined coordination, early contractor involvement and a focus on long term performance.

Now a finalist in for Urban Developer’s – National Development of the year – Mixed Use Category 2026, Macquarie Tower reflects GWH’s capability to deliver sophisticated mixed use projects that are built for life and shaped to support progress across the region.
