Basement is now complete and we’re already close to the first ground floor slab.
We are proud to report a landmark milestone for the project is now complete with the final pour of Basement Two (B2) completed on Friday 31st July. In total, the basement has consumed an incredible 6,200m³ of concrete and 1,200 tonnes of steel reinforcement, all to form the very backbone upon which ERA’s two towers will rise. The scale of these works was extraordinary, with our fourth and largest single pour reaching 1,300m³ in a single day, a feat that required three concurrent concrete pumps and 192 concrete truck deliveries. It stands as one of the biggest single pours Newcastle has ever seen, and is a testament to the calibre of the team and the meticulous planning that underpins everything we do.

Equally visible is the arrival of our two tower cranes, which now stand prominently above the Newcastle skyline. For our neighbours and the broader community, they are a clear and confident signal that ERA is very much on the move. What makes this even more remarkable is the way the site operates simultaneously across multiple levels. While works on the western edge are finalising the B2 slab, the team on the eastern side has already formed up the Ground Floor and is on track to pour the first Ground Floor slab mid-August. On the structural front, precast columns have now been installed across every level, B2, B1, and Ground Floor. It is a genuine reflection of the complexity and capability behind this project.
With the basement now behind us, the project moves into its next chapter: ERA emerging from the ground. Reaching ground level is the milestone our entire team is driving toward, and it will mark the moment ERA begins to reveal its true presence on the Newcastle skyline. The momentum on site is nothing short of remarkable.
