GWH has completed ONE Apartments at 1 National Park Street, delivering a twin‑tower residential development designed to support long‑term living in the heart of Newcastle and make a meaningful contribution to the city’s evolving CBD.
Located at the corner of National Park and King Streets in Newcastle West, the completed development comprises 193 one‑, two‑ and three‑bedroom apartments across two towers rising to 70.6 metres and 77.8 metres respectively. Now complete, ONE Apartments has become a permanent feature of Newcastle’s skyline, helping to address growing demand for well‑located, high‑quality apartment living while strengthening the residential fabric of the city centre.
ONE was architecturally designed by Marchese Partners in collaboration with local practice CKDS Architecture, with a clear focus on creating a building that sits comfortably within its surroundings and contributes positively at street level. This intent extends beyond the apartments themselves, with an upgraded public domain, forecourt and permanent public artwork delivered in collaboration with the City of Newcastle Public Art Standing Committee. Created by artist Jennifer Marchant, the artwork forms part of the everyday experience of the street, reinforcing the connection between the building, the public realm and the broader community.
Inside the building, ONE Apartments has been designed around shared amenity and a sense of connection between residents. Facilities available to all residents include an outdoor swimming pool, private cinema, fully equipped gymnasium and sauna, two rooftop entertainment areas and a private function room on the upper levels. These shared spaces were intentionally designed as extensions of residents’ homes — places to gather, host, relax and connect — supporting everyday use and long‑term liveability rather than short‑term appeal.
The rooftop areas provide panoramic views across Newcastle, taking in the harbour and coastline, with outlooks extending south to Merewether and north toward Port Stephens. For many residents, these shared spaces offer access to views and experiences that would otherwise be out of reach, reinforcing the value of apartment living as a lifestyle choice rather than a compromise.
Each apartment has been finished to the standard GWH is known for, with an emphasis on practical layouts, durability and quality materials chosen to stand the test of time. The focus throughout has been on creating homes that work day‑to‑day, not just on settlement.
The project was delivered through GWH’s integrated developer–builder model, supported by long‑standing integration partner Hunter Construction Group. This approach provided greater control over quality, timeframes and procurement, allowing the project to progress through a challenging construction market with consistency and certainty. A significant proportion of materials and components were sourced and manufactured locally, including precast structural elements, façade components, windows, doors and internal joinery. Cabinetry and kitchens were manufactured in Port Stephens, with materials sourced from Bathurst, supporting regional suppliers and trades and ensuring local benefit beyond the site itself.
For GWH, the completion of ONE Apartments represents more than the delivery of a building. It reflects a continued commitment to creating homes that support people, strengthen communities and contribute positively to the city’s future.
